What Happens When A Bias Omnivore Compares Vegans and Paleos.
So, beautifulnaida came to me recently with an article that upset her and asked me what my response to it will be.
This article, Vegans vs. Paleo: Can’t We All Just Get Along? starts off sort of okay, and quickly turns rude and ignorant. The following is, to put it mildly, what I would say to this jerk if he were before me:
The first thing I’d say is that this person needs a copyeditor. Because I’m a grammar bitch.
Second, I’d say the main reason vegans and Paleos can’t get along is because to a vegan eating another animal and exploiting a sentient being is not okay, regardless of any health aspect. Veganism is first and foremost ethical. All the health benefits of it are just the best of icings.
Third, that the only kind of saturated fat that is proven to be good for you is not, by any means, from the fat of a grass-fed animal - animal fat is still animal fat, and it’s still bad for you. It still contains cholesterol. The kind of saturated fat the author is referring to is the kind in coconuts and coconut oil - I can get you the literature if you want it. It’s fantastic for you. The link they source is, first of all, from 2002 and clearly from some janky website - it’s not a clinical article even if the author is a doctor. It’s outdated, bias information from an unreliable source. All this fat talk that’s being spouted? It’s referring to whole-food plant fats - avocados, nuts, seeds, etcetera.
Third I would say that using only vegans who do not balance their diets or understand carbohydrates as an example of the “eventual-failing of vegan health” is incredibly unfair, bias, and ignorant. Amino acids? Fatty acids? B vitamins? Is this really your final argument? You can’t do better than that?
All of these things can be achieved more than accessibly in the vegan diet – vegans need to pay attention to these to remain healthy just like every other person on every other diet. If you’re a vegan living off PB&J and grilled cheeses, okay yeah, your energy is going to go to shit. If you have a well-balanced diet, you’re going to be just fine. Don’t believe me? Lastly, comparing vegans to people who believe toilets are made to drink water out of and gravity doesn’t exist is just plain offensive and unnecessary, which makes your credibility officially zero. Also, it makes you a dick. A bias dick. A bias, animal-munching cock who thinks the Internet has made it okay to stereotype and judge an entire group of people.
Also, we’re aware PETA is propaganda, and if you paid any attention you’d know that most vegans actually do not support PETA at all because they’re hypocritical, run kill-shelters, and use misogynistic, disgusting advertisements. Fuck PETA. Also, fuck you.
